Dr. Danish Ahmad is a compassionate, experienced physician who brings his wealth of knowledge and love of listening to help each patient on their path. He works closely with each of his patients to develop data-informed preventive health plans that address their personal priorities and support long-term vitality.
Triple board-certified in internal medicine, emergency medicine, and critical care medicine, Dr. Ahmad has spent his career working in some of the country’s top hospitals, where he cared for a wide variety of medically complex patients, learned to treat all different parts of the body, and saw the impact he could have on patients’ lives.
“The common thread in my career in medicine is the patients and the conversations we share. Everyone has a story to tell and everyone’s life is fascinating,” Dr. Ahmad says. “Everyone has a reason for walking into the room—something they’re hoping to understand or change. I’m here to listen, to ask good questions, and to help them move forward with clarity and confidence.”
Originally from Ottawa, Canada, Dr. Ahmad earned a Bachelor of Science with a double major in Psychology/Biology and in English Literature from the University of Miami and his Doctor of Medicine from the University of South Florida College of Medicine. He completed a combined emergency medicine and internal medicine residency at Northwell Health System’s Long Island Jewish Medical Center and became Chief Resident for Emergency Medicine in the hospital’s prestigious program. Dr. Ahmad finished his training with a critical care fellowship, also at Northwell.
At Mount Sinai's Manhattan hospital, Dr. Ahmad served as an attending physician in the Emergency Department, the Critical Care Department, and the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, and was appointed Lead Resuscitative Attending in the ER. He also held a position as Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine and Critical Care Medicine. Working at one of the world's premier hospitals exposed him to diverse conditions and cutting-edge treatments. “Being around such smart other attendings working at the cutting edge was a pleasure,” he says. During the early waves of COVID-19, he provided critical care at the height of the crisis across Mount Sinai’s network of hospitals.
In 2022, he joined Sollis Health as an Emergency Medicine Attending and became Associate Medical Director of Sollis in New York. There, Dr. Ahmad found renewed fulfillment in having more time to connect with patients and focusing on preventive and longitudinal care.
On being a Chief Medical Officer at Atria, Dr. Ahmad says, “Internal medicine is the foundation for all medicine. This allows me to form deep, thoughtful relationships with patients, and that’s always what I want to do.”
Dr. Ahmad brings a deeply humanistic approach to his practice, inspired by his own family’s immigrant journey from South Asia to Canada. “Every patient is someone’s parent, sibling, or loved one. I think about how I would want my own mother to be treated—with patience, respect, and clear explanations,” he says.
During his time in large health care systems, Dr. Ahmad noticed doctors rarely had time to help patients understand diagnoses or treatment options, often only reacting to problems after they occurred. As a primary care physician, he builds stronger patient relationships, enabling more proactive, holistic care that improves outcomes and maintains health from the start.
“I’ve always found it to be a privilege that people share with me some things they don’t share with anyone else—some of their regrets, their fears, their hopes, and wishes,” Dr. Ahmad says. “I hold that trust sacred.”
Fluent in English, Urdu, and Spanish, Dr. Ahmad has cared for patients from all walks of life. His work is grounded in empathy, cultural sensitivity, and scientific rigor. He sees his role not just as a clinician, but also as an accountability partner and health advocate. “For many people—especially high performers—understanding the data behind a health recommendation is motivating. I enjoy helping patients connect the science with what matters most to them,” Dr. Ahmad says.
On his own time, Dr. Ahmad enjoys reading fiction and non-fiction books, particularly those about preventive health and longevity medicine. He also loves running, skiing, playing hockey and soccer, and spending time with his wife, their son, and the family’s cockapoo, Lumi.
