Dr. Henry Wu
Los Angeles
Pediatrics
Dr. Henry Wu is a board-certified pediatrician with more than a decade of experience caring for children across all stages of development. A Los Angeles native with deep roots in the community, Dr. Wu brings his comprehensive, innovative approach to help each child and their family build personalized plans designed to support their growth and wellbeing.
Dr. Wu loves helping families with all manner of routine and acute pediatric care, and has special clinical interest in infectious illnesses, sports-related concussions, and the management of complex and chronic diseases including asthma, food allergies, and neurodevelopmental conditions.
“Helping children stay healthy and supported as they pursue their dreams is incredibly rewarding,” Dr. Wu says. “Their curiosity and joy are what first drew me to pediatrics and continue to inspire me every day, both as a physician and a parent.” A fan of mystery stories from the time he was a child, Dr. Wu grounds his pediatric care in that same sense of curiosity and openness. “Pediatrics often feels like detective work,” he says. “So much of what children share isn’t spoken, and understanding those cues and what they don’t say helps you see who they are beyond their symptoms.”
Dr. Wu’s path to medicine began in high school when he spent a summer at Los Angeles County General Hospital shadowing pediatricians who cared for young children and families with compassion and purpose. He went on to graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Neuroscience from the University of Southern California. He then earned his medical degree from USC’s Keck School of Medicine before completing his residency at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, where he was Chief Resident.
After completing his training, Dr. Wu joined the Southern California Permanente Medical Group, where he worked as a partner and pediatrician for eight years. As Pediatric Quality Improvement Chair at his medical center, his attention to detail advanced patient outcomes and supported colleagues in refining clinical practice. He later served as a core physician with the Virtual Medical Center, using cutting-edge technology to help shape early pediatric telehealth programs across Southern California.
Dr. Wu is energized by innovation, and enjoys staying up to date on research so he can share this knowledge with families as he works with them at every point in their healthy journey. “I’m inspired by how medicine keeps evolving, and I’m drawn to finding ways to bring evidence-based innovation into pediatrics in ways that are timely and meaningful for families,” Dr. Wu says.
Dr. Wu is particularly experienced in caring for children with complex or chronic medical conditions, including allergies, asthma, and recurrent illnesses. The trust he builds with families allows him to coordinate care seamlessly and guide families through joyful milestones and challenging moments alike.
Most recently, Dr. Wu founded Oakwell Pediatrics, a concierge practice, to provide the personalized, highly responsive care he felt was missing in traditional health care settings. “I value the relationships that grow over time with families,” he says. “Having the time to understand how each family functions and what matters most to them helps me provide care that is both thoughtful and effective.”
He brings this same thorough, relationship-based approach to Atria, where he appreciates the opportunity to meet families where they are, whether at the Institute or in their homes, and create a space for children to feel safe and understood.
Beyond medicine, Dr. Wu remains active with his alma mater, serving on the USC Alumni Association’s Board of Governors. He enjoys mentoring and supporting students, just as he was guided and encouraged earlier in his own career.
Dr. Wu lives in Los Angeles and enjoys exploring the city’s evolving food and coffee scene, traveling internationally, and spending time with his wife and two sons who keep him active and happily outnumbered.
