Ken Shubin Stein
Co-Founder, Atria; Co-Founder and CEO, Atria Academy of Science & Medicine

Dr. Ken Shubin Stein comes from a family of doctors, scientists and clinicians: his father is a cardiologist, his mother is a fertility counselor, and his twin sister and brother-in-law are orthopedic surgeons. Despite his family's expertise in medicine, when his parents’ medical needs increased, his family could not find the comprehensive, proactive care their parents deserve. Dr. Shubin Stein knew that if his family was struggling to address their own medical care, other families were too. So he set out to start Atria, “to create medicine good enough for my family,” he says.
Dr. Shubin Stein graduated from Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where he earned his medical degree and completed a research fellowship with a focus on molecular genetics. He later completed his neurology training at Northwell Health. Dr. Shubin Stein also earned master’s degrees in both Epidemiology and Public Health from the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health before being recognized as Certified in Public Health by the National Board of Public Health Examiners. He also graduated from the Owner / President Management Program at Harvard Business School.
Over the course of his career, Dr. Shubin Stein has taken on diverse roles, including as an Adjunct Professor at the Columbia University Graduate School of Business, and as a director and advisor to various public and private businesses. He also serves as a member of the Executive Committee for the American Migraine Foundation, the Board of Advisors for Hospital for Special Surgery, and the Concussion Initiative Center for Excellence Committee for the Brain Injury Association of New York State.
Dr. Shubin Stein is committed to socially conscious work. He is the Co-Founder and Chairman of Crutches 4 Kids, which provides crutches to children in need across the globe, and he is the Co-Founder and former Chairman of the International Concussion Society, a leading source of concussion information for physicians, coaches, patients and their families. In addition, Dr. Shubin Stein was an Executive Producer of This Hits Home, an award-winning documentary on concussions in victims of domestic violence.
As the Co-Founder and Chief Medical Officer of Atria, Dr. Shubin Stein is focused on pulling from his diverse experience and his commitment to improving healthcare. At Atria, he can fully dedicate himself to providing the top-notch quality care that every patient deserves—including his own family.
